Photoshop How To’s – Picture Border

Want to create your picture to look like a real photograph? Here’s how to:

1. Duplicate the picture (it will automatically set it as Layer 1).
2. On Layer 1, Click on Layer Menu> Layer Style> Stroke.
3. Set the following parameters on Stroke:
         Size = 1 px
        Position = Outside
        Blend Mode = Normal
        Opacity = 25%
        Fill Type = Color
        Color = 000000 (or Black)
4. Adjust the Canvas Size (Image menu> Canvas Size). I suggest you adjust both the width and height to 10 additional pixels.
5. Duplicate Layer 1.
6. Edit the Stroke layer style with the following parameters:
        Size = 7px
        Position = Inside
        Blend Mode = Normal
        Opacity = 100%
        Fill Type = Color
        Color = FFFFFF (or White)
7. Check on Drop Shadow and set the following parameters:
Blend Mode = Multiply
        Opacity = 75%
        Angle = 145 degrees
        Distance = 5 px
        Spread = 1 px
        Size = 5 px

That’s all! You’ll achieve somewhat similar to this:
